Sree Girijeswari Kali Mata - Lohapur, Birbhum

“DAKHINAA BAAL ROOPI KALI MATA” When the entire Country i.e. Bharat was preparing herself to become a free Country & the Country is busy in building their dreams for a new and independent Country where everyone will have their own free motherland again. But on the other side the Country is worried of its partition where the Eastern and Western portion of Country’s lands are planning to create a new Country under the influence of Muslim League. Then just 2 years had past for Bengal Famine and Bengal is going through a series of adversities, then In the district of Birbhum 2(Two) Zamindar brothers from Lohapur (formerly LAUDAPUR) a village at the border of Birbhum and Murshidabad (Moregram) With a railway station named LOHAPUR which has its connection from the period of “Mahabharat” too as it is said by the people, came forward for the people. The two zamindars were worried about the situations in Bengal and in their region too where people are in fear of losing their life, family, under such distress and other side under the claws of poverty it has devoured the humanity to its ultimate. Then with the blessing of almighty Two zamindars namely 1. SHRI KHUDI PRASAD BHAKAT. 2. SHRI SOMESWAR PRASAD BHAKAT, son of Late MAHABIR RAM BHAKAT came forward to stand beside their people with all sort of necessities and took care for their daily living with food and shelter for few months. To serve the society with such noble and benevolent behavior and their far away spread landlord ship, British government that time conferred them with “Gold Medal” for best Zamindars in the district, consecutively for three times. Being such noble and benevolent they had some family problem where the mortality rate were more for new born in the family and the entire family was caged into sufferings and anxiety. Then one day a saint from Banaras (Varanasi) came for some alms to the door of the zamindars. During that time Shri Khudi Prasad Bhakat was present at his business office and came forward to welcome the saint with a warm welcome and asked to call his brother Shri Someswar Prasad Bhakat to serve before the saint as both the zamindar brothers were very kind, noble and spiritual minded and loves to serve for any spiritual gurus. After looking into the nature of two brothers the way they serve to the spiritual gurus, that saint suddenly asked Shri Khudi Prasad Bhakat that he along with the entire Bhakat family is worried about the mortality of their new born in the family, they were shocked to hear such from a saint who came first time to Lohapur. The saint showered his blessing on them and asked them to build a Devi Shakti temple which is a “DAKHINAA BAAL ROOPI KALI MATA” a Vaisnav Kali Mata, a symbol of divine Mata Laxmi and to perform consecration according to “Vaisnav” rituals. After receiving such blessings from the saint a divine idol was ordered and brought from Banaras (Varanasi) and a temple construction started. The temple was built as per the Vedic structural format with such amenities so that any rituals can be performed for the people of the society. People of those time used to say that the construction of this temple bought some good fortune for this region in different way. After the construction of this beautiful temple along with the beautiful Flower garden to add more beauty to its premises and a play area for our Mata and during the consecration ceremony the idol of mata was kept in seven different things, that are, 1. Panchgabbya. 2. Ganga Jal. 3. Milk. 4. Curd. 5. Ghee. 6. Paddy. 7. Fruits & Vegetables for seven days along with vedic mantra chanting, kirtan by a group of 25 acharya and team from Kasi (Banaras) to perform the ceremony. The ceremony was performed with the “Vaisnav” rituals and according to “Kashi Mat”, With devotion and gratitude the entire Bhakat family were present to serve the saints and spiritual gurus present in the ceremony. Finally on the seventh day of ceremony i.e – “16th April 1946 – Tuesday, Bengali year – 3rd Baishak 1353” the “Pran Pratistha” day, Bhakat family’s eldest guardian Shri Khudi Prasad Bhakat and his younger brother Shri Someswar Prasad Bhakat planned to performed the ceremony by the elder son of the Bhakat family, Shri Rameswar Prasad Bhakat, son of Shri Someswar Prasad Bhakat and nephew of Shri Khudi Prasad Bhakat assisted by Shri Girija Prasad Bhakat, son of Shri Khudi Prasad Bhakat. During the “Pran Pratistha” mata name ceremony performed and finally mata known as “SREE SREE GIRIJESWARI KALI MATA THAKURANI” the devi of, Peace, Prosperity, Prosperous, Strength and Wish. To celebrate this festival all the villages of this region participated in the “Maha prasad Grahan” for 7 days day and night, not a single family was left isolated. After the arrival and with the blessing of Sree Sree Girijeswari Mata the entire Bhakat family had a stable, settled, and peaceful family with the growth of the generations. Our Mata Sree Sree Girijeswari Mata became the mother – “MAA” of everyone in this region despite of caste, creed and religion, and took care of her children in all the way and showered her blessings to all, since then not a single thing happened in the nearby villages and peace and prosperity established by then. Our mata Sree Sree Girijeswari Mata is the symbol of Peace, Prosperity, Prosperous, Strength and Wish. People from different places come to mata to take her blessings and fulfill their wish.
